
Alexandra Morgan Carrasco, an American professional soccer player plays as a striker in the San Diego Wave FC (NWSL), which is the highest division of women's soccer in the United States. She also co-captained the United States women's soccer team from 2018 to 2020 with Megan Rapinoe and Carli Lloyd. After graduating in the early years of the University of California, Berkeley, where she played with the California Golden Bears, Morgan was chosen as the number one overall pick in the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. Morgan made her professional debut there and was instrumental in winning the league championship. Morgan at the time, who was 22 years older, was the youngest national player in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011 in which she finished second. In the 123rd minute of the semi-final game against Canada during the 2012 London Olympics she scored the game-winning goal. She was the second player in the U.S. to score 20 goals and 21 assists for 2012, making her the youngest and sixth-highest scoring player in the United States to achieve 20 goals in one year. She was subsequently awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year and was a FIFA World Player of the Year finalist. Morgan played a key role in helping the United States winning their titles during the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups and the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup. She was named to both the Dream Team for both tournaments. In 2019, she took home the Silver Boot.
